Anna Wallach Bio

Anna Wallach, Chef and Owner of Truffles Grille & Wine Bar, was born in Buffalo, NY as the only American sibling in a large family from the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region of Italy. It was from her father she learned how to grow the produce and cure the meats and cheeses while her mother taught her to keep the integrity of the food whole by focusing on fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients. While Anna decided to pursue an accounting career after graduating from Rochester Institute of Technology, she kept her love of food and wine as a constant hobby.

20 years later, she decided to finally fulfill her lifelong dream of opening her own small, intimate European style restaurant. Wanting to round out her informal training, she decided to enroll in the culinary arts program at Johnson & Wales where she graduated with high honors from the Alpha Beta Kappa National Honor Society and was recognized by chefs and instructors with the Johnsonian Spirit Award.

In April 2001, the opportunity to open that small, intimate restaurant became a reality. Anna traveled to the California wine region and then to Italy to enhance her knowledge of food and wine, and put finishing touches on her menu. Truffles Grille & Wine Bar opened on July 25, 2002 and has received rave reviews. She has appeared on a New England Living television segment and has given demonstrations at Boston Food Shows showcasing popular dishes from her restaurant. Anna looks forward to sharing this passion with you.
